Raider Prospects Finish Run At Telus Cup
Prince George, BC – Defenceman Adam Herold and forward Eric Pearce had their first Midget AAA season come to an end this weekend at the 2017 Telus Cup.
The pair of Raider prospects helped the SMAAAHL champion Regina Pat Canadians to a fourth-place finish at the national championship tournament following a 4-1 loss to the Mississauga Rebels on Sunday.
The Pat Canadians completed the round robin with a 2-2-1 record to finish third with five points. They opened the competition with a 5-2 loss to Mississauga.
In their second game, Pearce picked up an assist on a third-peripd goal in the Pat C’s 3-3 tie with the host Cariboo Cougars.
Next, Regina fell 3-2 to the Blizzard Du Séminaire Saint-Francois in their third game. Herold earned his first point of the week with a third-period goal to make it a 2-2 tie before the Quebe representative scored with 16 seconds left to secure the win.

On the next day, the Pat Canadians earned their first win of the week in a 6-4 victory over the Leduc Oil Kings. Herold and Pearce each had an assist in the win.
Needing a win to have a chance of making the playoffs, the Pat Canadians earned a 5-2 win over the Cape Breton West Islanders. Herold scored his second goal of the tournament, which also held up as the game winner on the afternoon.

In the semifinal, the Pat Canadians fell 4-3 in overtime to Séminaire Saint-Francois. Pearce gave Regina a 3-2 lead with his first goal of the tournament midway through the third period, but the Pat Canadians were unable to hold the one-goal advantage.

That loss set up the bronze-medal game against Mississauga, which capped off an impressive debut season for both Herold and Pearce.
Herold, a second-round pick in the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft, finished the year with three goals and 13 assists through 54 regular season and playoff games with the Pat Canadians. Pearce, another second-round pick in last May’s draft, had 13 goals and 17 assists in 51 games.
