Five Raider prospects to play at 2024 WHL Cup
The 2024 WHL Cup in Red Deer, AB will feature some of the best talent from the 2009 WHL draft class, including five Raider prospects who will represent their provinces from October 22-27.
Connor Howe (Saskatchewan)
A Prince Albert, SK product, Howe was selected by the Raiders in the second round, 31st overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. In two games so far with the Prince Albert Mintos (SMAAAHL), Howe has one goal. Last season with the Prince Albert U15AA Pirates, he scored 21 goals and added 22 assists for 43 points in 16 games.
Brock Cripps (B.C.)
Cripps was the second overall pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. The Victoria, B.C. product is averaging a point per game so far in the 2024-25 campaign with the St. George’s School U18 Prep club, with five assists in five games. In 2023-24, the defenceman scored 25 goals and had 45 assists for 70 points with the St. George’s School U15 Prep squad.
Ben Harvey (Alberta)
Not far behind Cripps, the Raiders selected Harvey fourth overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft. From Edmonton, AB, Harvey is playing U18AAA this season in the AEHL with the Edmonton Junior Oilers. In two games, the forward has a goal and an assist. Last season, Harvey scored 19 goals and had 33 assists, totaling 52 points.
Kyle Obobaifo (Alberta)
A third round pick, 54th overall in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft, Obobaifo impressed the Raiders at training camp last month, earning his WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. This year, the Calgary, AB product is playing in his hometown with the Calgary Flames U18AAA club. He has two assists in two games so far this season. Last year with the Burnaby Winter Club U15 Prep team, Obobaifo scored 20 goals and had 18 assists for 38 points. He played six games with the U17 team as well, scoring six points (4G-2A) in those contests.
Knox Burton (Manitoba)
Burton was selected in the fifth round by the Raiders, and is spending the 2024-25 season in Winnipeg. He’s with RHA Winnipeg in the CSSHL, where he’s played both U17 and U18 this year. In three games with the U17 club, Burton has a goal and two assists for three points. Last year with the U15 team, the forward scored 15 goals and helped on 18 more, registering 33 points in 27 games.
