Raiders Stay Alive With Big Game 5 Win
Moose Jaw, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders are still alive.
Sean Montgomery scored twice to lead the offence to a 5-1 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series on Saturday night at Mosaic Place.
The Raiders now trail the series 3-2 as it shifts back to Prince Albert on Sunday evening.
In the first, the Raiders faced some penalty trouble. First, Max Martin took a double minor for high sticking. However, the Raiders were able to kill it off after Regan Nagy drew a penalty on a shorthanded breakaway.
Montgomery got the Raiders on the board first. He took a pass in the slot from Justin Nachbaur and wired a shot past Brody Willms at the 10:56 mark of the frame.

After the Raiders killed off a Cole Fonstad penalty for tripping, Parker Kelly extended Prince Albert’s lead. The Ottawa Senators prospect redirected Brayden Pachal’s shot past Willms to make it a 2-0 game after the first.

Midway through the second, the Raiders extended their lead. With Brandon Klatt in the box for boarding, Max Martin’s wrister from the point beat Willms to put Prince Albert up 3-0.

About a minute after Martin’s goal, the Warriors got on the board. Justin Almeida tallied his third goal of the series to cut the Raiders’ lead to two.
Early in the third, the Raiders’ restored their three-goal lead. Montgomery kept on a two-on-one rush and fired a shot off the far post and in to give the Raiders a 4-1 advantage at the 4:15 mark of the third.

Midway through the period, the Raiders iced it. Curtis Miske took a pass off the boards from Brett Leason and snapped a shot past Willms to round out the scoring at 5-1.

Ian Scott delivered another strong performance between the pipes for the Raiders. The Toronto Maple Leafs draft pick made 31 saves – including all 13 in a busy first period – for his second post-season win. Willms stopped 17 Raider shots before being pulled following Miske’s goal. Adam Evanoff turned aside all four shots in faced in relief.
