Raiders Weekly – December 9
Prince Albert, SK – The Prince Albert Raiders wrap up their schedule prior to the holiday break this week with four games in five nights.
The Raiders are coming off a split of last weekend’s games. On Friday, the Raiders fell 2-1 to the Kelowna Rockets at the Art Hauser Centre. In Moose Jaw the following night, the Raiders downed the Warriors 5-1.
This week is Holiday Week at the Art Hauser Centre beginning on Wednesday night for the Wawanesa Toy Drive in support of the Optimist Club of Prince Albert. On that night, the Raiders will tangle with the Medicine Hat Tigers (20-8-1-0). It’s the second time the Raiders have squared off with the Tigers this season. The Tigers took the first meeting in Medicine Hat on Nov. 23.
Fans are asked to bring new and unwrapped toys to Wednesday’s game for the Wawanesa Toy Drive. The toys will be donated to the Optimist Club of Prince Albert’s Santa Anonymous program. Fans will be entered into a draw to win tickets to the 2020 Memorial Cup Presented By Kia for bringing in a donation. [related_links] On Friday night, the Raiders host the Winnipeg ICE (17-11-1-0) on Ugly Christmas Sweater Night Presented By Lakeland Ford. The Raiders will be wearing special Ugly Christmas Sweater jerseys for the game.
The auction for the jerseys is on-going with 12 jerseys purchased so far. Jerseys can be bought outright for $450 or bidding starts at $250. The online portion of the auction ends on Thursday night at 5 p.m. CST. From there, jerseys that have not been bought outright will continue as a silent auction Friday’s game. The highest bidder from the online auction will carry over to the silent auction. Check out the auction here.
The Raiders wrap up Holiday Week on Saturday night with the annual Teddy Bear Toss Presented By Canadian Tire as the BC Division-leading Kamloops Blazers (18-9-1-1) come to town. Fans are asked to bring their stuffed animals wrapped in a plastic bag to throw on the ice after the Raiders score their first goal of the game.

The Raiders conclude their schedule before the holiday break on Sunday afternoon when they take on the Saskatoon Blades (14-13-1-2) at SaskTel Centre. Puck drop is 4 p.m. in Saskatoon. Head to The Rock And Iron Sports Bar to watch the game, or listen to Trevor Redden on 900 CKBI.
Elsewhere, Aliaksei Protas and Ilya Usau are in the lineup to represent Belarus at the 2020 IIHF World Under-20 Championship – Division 1. The winning nation of the six-team tournament will qualify for the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship in Edmonton and Red Deer. Protas, Usau, and Belarus opened the tournament with a 4-3 win against Austria. Protas and Usau both scored in the win. Keep up to date with the tournament here.

The Raiders return from the holiday break for a home-and-home series with the Blades beginning on Friday, December 27 at the Art Hauser Centre. Game time is 7 p.m. Tickets are available here.
