WHL Championship Series: Game Three Preview
rCalgary, AB — Mikael Backlund and the Kelowna Rockets welcome Brett Sonne and the Calgary Hitmen for Game 3 of the 2009 WHL Championship series on Monday, May 4th.  Monday night’s WHL Championship series contest between the Rockets and Hitmen can be seen live throughout western Canada on SHAW (7:00pm PT).  The Rockets hold a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series after winning the opening two games of the series in Calgary on Friday and Saturday.  The Rockets have now defeated the Hitmen three consecutive times in Calgary, including the final meeting of the regular season, and have outscored the Hitmen 10-4.  Mikael Backlund scored twice, including the game-winner, in Saturday’s 5-2 victory in game 2 of the series.

rThe Hitmen find themselves down 0-2 in the series after losing back-to-back games to the Rockets on home ice to open the series, and now must win twice in Kelowna to even up the series.  Calgary had not lost back-to-back games all season until their two defeats to the Rockets.  Calgary’s forwards have scored just one goal through the opening two games of the series.
