Hurricanes Ink Scott
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Thursday they have signed 2008-born defenceman William Scott to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Scott, 15, was selected by the Hurricanes in the fourth-round (73rd overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The Kelowna, BC, product skated in 27 regular season games with the Okanagan Hockey Academy U15 Prep team in 2022-2023 collecting 25 points (1g-24a) along with 43 penalty minutes. Scott was held pointless in four post-season games.
The 5’11, 153-pound rearguard finished seventh in scoring for the OHA U15 Prep team last season, while finishing second in defenceman scoring. Scott added one goal in three outings at the John Reid U15 Tournament. In two seasons at the U15 Prep and Varsity level, he appeared in 54 regular season games totaling 47 points (8g-29a) with 61 penalty minutes while adding two goals and two penalty minutes in seven playoff games.
Scott is the second player from the 2023 draft to sign with the Hurricanes joining forward Chase Petersen who signed on June 1st.
