Petersen Signs with Hurricanes
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Thursday that they have signed 2008-born forward Chase Petersen to a Western Hockey League Scholarship and Development Agreement.
Petersen, 15, was selected by the Hurricanes with the first pick of the second-round (23rd overall) in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft in May. The Mossbank, SK, product collected 69 points (27g-42a) along with 26 penalty minutes in 29 regular season games in 2022-2023 with the Swift Current Broncos U15 AA team. He added 13 points (8g-5a) along with four penalty minutes in four post-season games for the Broncos.
The 6’0, 172-pound forward led the Broncos U15 team in scoring last season with his 69 points while also finished first in team scoring in the playoffs while serving as a member of Swift Current’s leadership group. Petersen finished ninth overall in regular season scoring in the SAAHL U15 league while finishing tied for fifth in post-season scoring. In two seasons with the Broncos U15 program, he totaled 99 points (43g-56a) along with 70 penalty minutes in 60 regular season games and an additional 17 points (8g-9a) and 24 penalty minutes in 14 playoff games.
Petersen is the first player selected by the Hurricanes in the 2023 WHL Draft to sign a Scholarship and Development Agreement.
