Hurricanes Community Update
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes have been succeeding both on and off the ice this season as they continue to show support for Lethbridge and Southern Alberta non profit organizations.
r
rThe Hurricanes are proud supporters of the Lethbridge United Way. During the 2007-2008 season, the Canes partnered with the Lethbridge United Way to offer a game worn Hurricanes Jersey for raffle at all home games until the end of February. The Canes are proud to announce that through their jersey donations a grand total of over $13,000 was raised for the Lethbridge United Way!
r
rSunlife Financial has been the title sponsor for the Hurricanes Sunlife Goals for Charity Program. For every home game this season Sunlife Financial will give a donation of $100 if the Hurricanes score the first goal. All of the donations will then be given to support the YWCA Harbour House. The donations have already reached $2400 and counting with three games remaining on the Hurricanes home schedule. Sunlife Financial will present a cheque to YWCA Harbour House representatives at the Hurricanes first home playoff game.
r
rThe Hurricanes have also been an integral part of the AADAC Spit Tobacco Program. Carter Bancks and Adam Chorneyko both served as ambassadors for the program. Both players completed an AADAC seminar on the subject before taking part in several Lethbridge Minor Hockey practices and informing young athletes of the dangers and health concerns of spit tobacco use.
r
rThe Lethbridge Hurricanes would like to thank their players, sponsors, fans and supporters for all of their contributions to these great causes.
