Team Awards: Carl Trentini Memorial Award
The Carl Trentini Memorial Award winner in 2019-2020 as Rookie of the Year is Hurricanes forward Zack Stringer.
Stringer finished his rookie season appearing in 48 games registering 34 points (11g-23a) along with 22 penalty minutes and a plus-13 rating. The product of Lethbridge, Alberta led the Hurricanes in rookie points while finishing 10th in WHL rookie scoring while finishing fifth among 16-year-old scoring in the WHL.
“Zack was a guy that we didn’t really look at as a 16-year-old,” said Hurricanes head coach Brent Kisio. “The way he plays, how much skill he has, how he thinks the game and his effort on the ice makes him a guy that we can put anywhere in the line-up and he always seems to make other guys better.
For 16-years-old, he had one heck of a year and he is going to be a big piece of our franchise moving forward for years to come.”
Stringer is the second straight Lethbridge product to capture the Carl Trentini Memorial Award for Rookie of the Year after goaltender Carl Tetachuk won in 2018-2019.
