GAME DAY: Hurricanes Visit Rebels in Family Day Matinee
Red Deer, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will look to end a season-long six-game losing streak this afternoon as they visit the Red Deer Rebels at 2:00pm at Peavey Mart Centrium.
The Hurricanes (24-24-5-0) enter on a six-game skid following a heartbreaking 4-3 overtime loss on Saturday at home against the Prince Albert Raiders. Trae Wilke, Miguel Marques and Kale Tipler scored in the defeat while Harrison Meneghin made 22-saves. Lethbridge enters tonight on a six-game road losing streak sitting with a 9-17-0-0 record away from home this year.
The Rebels (28-19-2-6) enter play today on a two-game losing streak after suffering a 3-1 defeat in Edmonton to the Oil Kings on Saturday night. Carson Birnie scored the lone goal in the loss while Chase Wutzke made 33-saves. Red Deer fell to 1-6-1-2 in their last 10 games. The Rebels enter play tonight with an 18-9-0-0 record at home this year.
Today will be the fourth of six meetings on the season between the Hurricanes and Rebels; Lethbridge has posted a 2-1-0-0 record against Red Deer so far this year as the home team has won all three matchups so far. NHL Ink: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on December 22nd. The Saskatoon, SK, product was a sixth-round (185th overall) selection by the Leafs in the 2023 NHL Draft. He became the first ‘Cane since Dylan Cozens (BUF) to sign an ELC deal. Chadwick has recorded 43 points (9g-34a) in 51 games with the Hurricanes this season. He is seven points shy of becoming the first ‘Canes defenceman to record 50+ points in a season since Alex Cotton (67) and Calen Addison (52) accomplished the feat during the 2019-2020 regular season.
