GAME DAY: Hurricanes Visit Tigers in ENMAX Pre-Season Finale
Lethbridge, AB – The Lethbridge Hurricanes will conclude their 2024 ENMAX Pre-Season this afternoon as they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers at 4:00pm at Co-op Place.
The Hurricanes (1-2-0-0) enter having dropped their last two games, most recently falling 5-3 to the Calgary Hitmen at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena on Friday night. Hayden Pakkala, Kooper Gizowski and Logan McCutcheon scored in the contest while Koen Cleaver made 23-saves. Lethbridge was outshot 28-24 in the game. The ‘Canes have posted an 0-1-0-0 record on the road in the pre-season.
The Tigers (1-2-0-0) suffered a 2-1 loss in Red Deer on Friday to the Rebels. Liam Ruck potted the lone Tigers goal in the loss while Jordan Switzer stopped 23 of 25 shots he faced. Medicine Hat outshot Red Deer 38-25 in the game. The Tigers have posted a 1-0-0-0 record at home in the pre-season after defeating Calgary 5-0 last week at Co-op Place.
Tonight will be the final pre-season game for both the Hurricanes and Tigers; Lethbridge has posted a 1-0-0-0 record against Medicine Hat so far.

VS. TIGERS: Tonight will be the final of two pre-season games between the Hurricanes and Tigers. Lethbridge earned a 4-1 victory over Medicine Hat in their previous meeting in the exhibition opener on September 3rd at the VisitLethbridge.com Arena. The two clubs will meet eight times in the upcoming 2024-2025 regular season. The ‘Canes posted a 5-3-1-0 record in nine contests against the Tigers last year.

Ready or Not: The Hurricanes will play a total of four games during their 2024 ENMAX Pre-Season schedule. The ‘Canes will face the Medicine Hat Tigers twice while also facing the Red Deer Rebels and Calgary Hitmen. Lethbridge posted a 2-2-0-0 record in their four-game exhibition schedule in 2023.
Thru 3: The ‘Canes have posted a 1-2-0-0 record thus far through the pre-season schedule. Lethbridge’s lone win came against the Medicine Hat Tigers on September 3rd while suffering losses to the Red Deer Rebels and Calgary Hitmen. The Hurricanes have been outscored 11-9 in the three games so far.
Gone Campin’: Five Hurricanes players are currently attending NHL Rookie Camps. Drafted players Noah Chadwick (Toronto Maple Leafs), Miguel Marques (Nashville Predators) and Harrison Meneghin (Tampa Bay Lightning) are attending camps while free-agent invites Brayden Edwards (Detroit Red Wings) and Landen Ward (Ottawa Senators) are also attending their first NHL Rookie Camps.
Re-assigned: So far, the Hurricanes have re-assigned six players, trimming their exhibition roster to 27-players. The ‘Canes re-assigned goaltenders Brody Rotar (Lethbridge U18 Hurricanes) and Leif Oaten (Edge U18) as well as forwards Matteo Di Stefano (Yale U17), Jake Evans (Saskatoon Contacts U18), Cohen Pentney (Calgary Flames U18) and defenceman Reid Soper (NAX U18). Lethbridge currently has three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 16 forwards.
New Captain: On August 30th, the Hurricanes announced Noah Chadwick as the 32nd Captain in team history. The Toronto Maple Leaf prospect succeeds outgoing captain Joe Arntsen who served for three seasons. Chadwick served as an Alternate Captain in 2023-2024. The Saskatoon, SK, product recorded a career-high 56 points (12g-44a) in 66 games last season.
Duo Signed: On September 2nd, the Hurricanes announced the signings of 2009-born forwards Matteo Di Stefano and Jake Evans to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreements. Evans was a fourth-round pick (84th overall) while Di Stefano was taken in the sixth-round (124th overall) in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
2023-2024 Review: The ‘Canes finished the 2023-2024 regular season with a 33-28-7-0 record finishing seventh in the Eastern Conference standings. It marked the eighth straight campaign that the ‘Canes recorded 33-or-more victories during the regular season. The ‘Canes went 18-10-6-0 at home and 15-18-1-0 on the road last year.
Off-Season Acquisition: On July 10th, the Hurricanes announced the acquisition of 2005-born forward Trae Johnson from the Kelowna Rockets in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick in the 2026 WHL Prospects Draft. Johnson, who was previously selected in the second-round of the 2020 draft, appeared in 57 games with the Rockets last season totaling 13 points (3g-10a) along with 77 penalty minutes.
