RECAP: Hitmen Return to Win Column Dominating Blades 7-1
Saskatoon, SK – The Calgary Hitmen returned to the win column tonight, opening their four-game East Division Road trip with a dominant 7-1 victory over the Saskatoon Blades.
The Hitmen scored seven unanswered goals after Saskatoon opened the scoring on the power play in the first period with a goal from Hunter Laing. Kale Dach tied the game with his 24th goal of the season just under 10 minutes remaining in the frame, sending the teams into the second period deadlocked at one.

Calgary matched its season high with five goals in the second period. They would start the period with three goals in 52 seconds, with Calder Hamilton kicking off the scoring on the power play with his fifth of the season. Rylan Ng made it 3-1 on a strong individual effort, before Caine Wilke extended the lead moments later on the power play. Julien Maze would follow up with a power play goal of his own, before Axel Hurtig capped off the period, scoring his fifth of the season on a point shot to give Calgary a 6-1 lead heading into the final frame.

The Hitmen held the Blades to just five shots in the third period while adding one more goal, with Dach scoring his second of the night to seal the 7-1 win. Calgary outshot Saskatoon 36-16, with Eric Tu stopping 15 shots in the victory.
Hunter Aura earned third star honors with a two-point night, Calder Hamilton was named second star with a goal and an assist, and Kale Dach took first star after his three-point performance.
With the win, Calgary remains in sole possession of fourth place in the Eastern Conference, improving to 26-13-6-1.
The Hitmen road trip heads north tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 4 to Prince Albert to face the East Division leading Raiders. Game time is 7:00 p.m. (CT), 6:00 p.m. (MT). Calgary will then use Thursday as a travel day to Manitoba before facing the Wheat Kings in Brandon on Friday, Feb. 6 (7:00 p.m.). It’s then off to Regina on Saturday, Feb. 7 to take on the Pats (6:00 p.m.) followed by the next Hitmen home game on Wednesday, Feb. 11 against the Swift Current Broncos. Game time is 7:00 p.m.
