RECAP: Hitmen Close out Weekend with 6-3 Win over Pats
Calgary, AB – The Calgary Hitmen skated to a 6-3 victory over the Regina Pats Saturday night at the Scotiabank Saddledome to close out the weekend.
Calgary opened the scoring early in the first period with a goal from Keaton Jundt. Jack Poole followed with his first Western Hockey League goal to give the Hitmen a 2-0 lead. Regina got on the board midway through the period with a goal from Keets Fawcett, but Calgary restored the two-goal lead with Kale Dach scoring on the power play with five minutes remaining.

The Hitmen continued their offensive momentum in the second period with Caine Wilke adding a power play goal to extend the lead to 4-1. Regina’s Zachary Lansard responded with a power-play marker to cut the deficit, before Calder Hamilton recorded his fourth goal of the season. Connor Bear scored late in the period for Regina, making it 5-3 heading into the third.

Regina applied pressure in the final frame, outshooting Calgary 21-9, but goaltender Eric Tu was strong in net, finishing the game with 39 saves. Andrei Molgachev sealed the win with an empty-net goal to make the final 6-3.
With the win, Calgary improves to 24-12-6-1 on the season and remains in fourth place in the Eastern Conference.
Calgary returns to home ice on Wednesday, Jan. 28 to host the Edmonton Oil Kings. Game time is 7:00 p.m. at Scotiabank Saddledome. The Hitmen will then play five straight games on the road beginning Friday, Jan. 30 in Lethbridge.
