Giants Welcome Yvan Cournoyer for CDI Legends Night
The Vancouver Giants, in conjunction with the Scotiabank Hockey for Alzheimer’s tournament, are proud to present another Canadian Direct Insurance Legends Night on Saturday, November 15th when the Giants host the Victoria Royals at the Pacific Coliseum.
Montreal Canadiens great Yvan Cournoyer will be in attendance at the game, and 100 lucky fans will have a chance to meet and have their photo taken with “The Roadrunner” in the Eastside Fan Zone during the first intermission.
“Yvan Cournoyer is one of hockey’s all-time greats,” said Giants VP of Business Development Dale Saip. “We’re thrilled to welcome him back to Vancouver to be part of our legends weekend.”
Over 16-seasons in the NHL, Cournoyer played in 968 games scoring 428 goals and 863 points. He won 10 Stanley Cups as a player, second only to Henri Richard who won the cup 11 times. Cournoyer also won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 1973 and captained the Habs from 1975-1979.
The Giants will also wear a special Vancouver Blazers heritage jersey for the game on November 15th.
The 3rd Annual Scotiabank Hockey for Alzheimer’s tournament will be held from November 14-16 at Planet Ice Delta. The unique three-day co-ed tournament gives players an exhilarating opportunity to play with and against NHL Alumni and enjoy all the camaraderie and excitement of a pro-am tournament, while raising funds that provide critical support to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. The tournament will kick-off on Friday the 14th with the Gordie Howe & Friends Luncheon at the Vancouver Convention Centre. The luncheon will include many of the tournament’s NHL Alumni, as well as a Hot Stove with Canucks President of Hockey Operations Trevor Linden.
