BLAZING PAST THE CHIEFS
The number tw0 seed Kamloops Blazers took quick care of the Spokane Chiefs in the first round, outscoring them 23-3 in a four-game sweep. This is the first time the Blazers have made it to the second round of the playoffs since 2013. The three goals surrendered by the Blazers is the lowest total a team has allowed in a playoff series since 2013 when Portland swept Seattle, and the +20 goal differential is the highest in a single playoff series since the league started tracking playoff games in 1996.
THE ‘STAR’ OF THE SERIES
Blazers forward/Dallas Stars prospect Logan Stankoven led his team with 13 points (7G, 6A) in four games. His 3.25 points-per-game leads all WHL players going into the second round of the playoffs. Stankoven’s production was fueled by a five-point performance (3G, 2A) in Game 1 – A 9-0 victory. He also netted a natural hat-trick – his second of the series – in his team’s 3-0 victory in Game 4, which eliminated the Chiefs from the playoffs. In 12 games against the Giants during the regular season, Logan Stankoven led the Blazers with nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points.
