Giants Alumnus Ty Ronning Wins DEL Championship
The Vancouver Giants would like to congratulate alumnus Ty Ronning on winning a DEL Championship with Eisbären Berlin last night, April 26.
The former Giants star was an integral part of Berlin’s win, as they defeated the Fischtown Pinguins 4-1 in the best-of-7 final, where Ronning contributed four goals, including a hat-trick in Game 4.
Ronning holds the Giants single-season goals record with 61, which he scored in 70 games in the 2017-18 season. He also sits second on the Giants all-time goals list, with 127 goals, behind only Brendan Gallagher, who had 136.
During his incredible 2017-18 season with the G-Men, Ronning’s 61 goals ranked second in the WHL. The forward was also named the WHL Humanitarian of the Year that season.
This was Ronning’s first full season in the DEL, after he played the first half of 2022-23 in the American Hockey League with the Iowa Wild, before heading over to Germany to finish the season with ERC Ingolstadt, who lost in the league final to EHC Red Bull München.
