Giants Face Ams on Blum Bobblehead Night
The Vancouver Giants (19-21-1-1) will face the Tri-City Americans (20-21-0-2) on Friday night at Pacific Coliseum. It’s Jonathon Blum Bobblehead Night! The first 1,000 fans into the building will receive a bobblehead upon entry. Face-off is at 7:30pm. For tickets, click here or call 604-4-GIANTS (604-444-2687).
The Giants are coming off a 5-3 loss to the Portland Winterhawks on the road last Saturday. Tyler Benson had two goals in the losing cause while Zane Jones scored as well, finding the back of the net in his first game as a Giant. Jones, who was acquired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes prior to last week’s trade, is the nephew of former Calgary Flames forward Lanny McDonald and will wear #10 in Vancouver. The G-Men are 5-3-1-0 against teams from the US Division this year.
The Americans have lost two straight games, falling 4-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Sunday and 7-1 at the hands of the Kelowna Rockets on Wednesday. The Tri-City club is dealing with injury issues at the moment, most notably to their goaltender Eric Comrie who was a member of Canada’s World Junior team. The native of Edmonton is expected to be sidelined for 2-3 weeks with a lower body injury. Tri-City’s top scorer Parker Bowles is also out of the lineup with an upper body injury.
