PRINCE GEORGE, BC – Thanksgiving Sunday hockey takes centre stage at the CN Centre as the Prince George Cougars welcome the Swift Current Broncos for a 1:00 pm matinee.
Coming off a 3-1 victory over the Brandon Wheat Kings on October 2, the Cougars return to home ice looking to build momentum and earn consecutive victories for the first time this season.
Sunday marks the lone meeting of the season between Prince George and Swift Current. The Cats have enjoyed recent success against the Broncos, sporting a 3-1-0-0 record in their last four meetings, including a convincing 6-2 victory in Swift Current this past February.
Tickets are available for this afternoon’s game HERE.
THREE THINGS TO WATCH:
1. A BIG ADDITION TO THE BLUE LINE
The Cougars bolstered their defensive core earlier this week with the acquisition of 20-year-old defenceman Kolten Bridgeman from the Regina Pats.
Standing 6-foot-5, the Regina, SK product brings 171 games of WHL experience to Prince George. Known for his stay-at-home defensive style, Bridgeman adds size, experience, and a veteran presence to a young Cougars blue line.
2. FOSTER FINDING HIS FINISH
Aiden Foster has been one of Prince George’s most dangerous offensive weapons early this season.
The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect enters Sunday’s contest riding a hot streak after scoring four goals over his last two games, including a pair in the Cougars’ victory over Brandon.
3. BUILDING MOMENTUM AT HOME
Following a challenging road trip in Seattle and Vancouver, the Cougars responded with a strong defensive performance in their most recent outing, limiting Brandon to one goal in a 3-1 victory.
Prince George will look to carry that effort into Sunday’s matinee and put together its first winning streak of the 2026-27 campaign.
THE NEWEST CAT: KOLTEN BRIDGEMAN
Bridgeman arrives in Prince George following parts of four seasons with the Regina Pats. The veteran defender has recorded 21 points (3G-18A) and 123 penalty minutes across 171 career WHL contests.
“We are excited to add Kolten to our defensive core,” said General Manager and Head Coach Mark Lamb. “He is a stay-at-home defenceman with plenty of experience in our league and will be a big help to our younger players on the back end. He is a great fit for our group.” Bridgeman will wear number 25 with the Cougars.
