Chiefs fall 4-1 to Americans in last game of opening homestand
Spokane, Wash. — Despite putting up more shots on goal in every frame, the Spokane Chiefs fell 4-1 to the rival Tri-City Americans Saturday night to close out their first homestand of the season.
The Chiefs opened the scoring on the power play at 8:21 in the first period off a snipe from 20-year-old defenseman Raegan Wiles for his third goal of the season. Saige Weinstein earned an assist on the play.

Tri-City answered with back-to-back power play goals of their own — first from Adam Mechura at 13:22, then from Ethan Ernst at 17:19 to give the Americans a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.
The Americans padded their lead just over three minutes into the second period as Elouann Lemonnier netted his first goal of the year. Ernst followed that up with his second of the night halfway through the frame to make it 4-1.
The Chiefs put up 12 shots in the third period, but none of them found the twine as Spokane fell to Tri-City 4-1.
Spokane outshot the Americans 45-20, while special teams went 1-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-3 on the penalty kill.
Mason Beaupit got the start in net and turned away 16-of-20 shots.
Up next, the Chiefs will travel to Everett to take on the Silvertips Sunday night for the first time this season.
