Chiefs score in each period to beat Tri-City Americans, 3-2
Kennewick, Wash. – On Sunday afternoon, the Spokane Chiefs bested the Tri-City Americans in pre-season action thanks to three goals from three different skaters. It was the first of three contests between the two teams ahead of the regular season opener on October 2.
The Chiefs struck first on a goal from Copeland Fricker at 8:46, assisted by Brandon Reller and Jordan Chudley. The lead was short-lived, though, as veteran forward Parker Bell put back-to-back power play goals in the net for the Americans.
Cordel Larson tied things up about halfway through the second period, with help from Raegan Wiles and Logan Cunningham. A solid effort from Campbell Arnold in the net kept the Americans at bay for the rest of the game, as he saved 22 of 24 shots on goal.
The game-winner came from Reed Jacobson (assist – Saige Weinstein) at 7:35 in the third period and the defense finished out the game strong, allowing just 6 shots on goal in the final frame.
The Chiefs outshot the Americans, 30-24, but failed to capitalize on any of their three power plays.
The Chiefs continue their pre-season slate Wednesday night, when they host the Tri-City Americans at Spokane Arena at 7:05 p.m. PT.[related_links]
