2008 Inductee TYLER WRIGHT, Columbus Blue Jackets Development Coach Former Columbus Blue Jackets center Tyler Wright rejoined the organization’s hockey operations department in July 2007 when he was named development coach for the club. In his role he primarily will work with young players throughout the organization, assisting with the development of prospects playing in the professional minor leagues, various major junior leagues and college hockey.  Wright was selected by Columbus in the 2000 Expansion Draft and spent four-plus seasons with the club. He registered 57 goals and 51 assists for 108 points with 436 penalty minutes in 309 games as a Blue Jacket and ranks second on the club in career penalty minutes and fourth in games played. He also served as an alternate captain during the 2000-01, 2001-02 and 2003-04 seasons. His best campaign was the inaugural 2000-01 season when he posted a career-high 16-16-32 and a team-leading 140 penalty minutes. He appeared in 613 games in 13 NHL seasons, tallying 79-70-149 and 854 penalty minutes with the Blue Jackets, Anaheim Ducks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Edmonton Oilers. Edmonton’s first pick, 12* overall, in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft, he also represented Team Canada at the 1992 and 1993 (gold medal) World Junior Championships and 2002 World Championships. Wright was bom on April 6, 1973 in Kamsack, Saskatchewan. He and his wife, Christina, are the parents of daughters. Kennady and Ava, and son, Tanner. Scored the first goal in a Game Five, series-clinching 2-1 win over Washington in the opening round of the playoffs on April 21… 1998-99: Played in 61 games and ranked third on the team with 90 PIM… Set a career-high with 34 PIM in one game on Dec. 21 at Toronto.., Played in his 200th career game on Jan. 26 vs. Carolina… In the lineup for all 13 Stanley Cup Playoff games… Recorded 19 PIM during the playoffs… 1997-98: Played in a career-high 82 games and was one of only two Penguins to not miss a game… Logged his 100th career NHL game on Oct. 28 at Calgary… Recorded his first career two-goal game on Oct. 3 at Carolina… Saw his first Stanley Cup Playoff action on Apr, 23 vs. Montreal… Recorded his first career playoff point with an assist on Eddie Olczyk’s shorthanded game-winning goal in Game Four against the Canadiens… 1996-97: Played in 45 games with Pittsburgh, tallying 2-2-4 with 70 PIM.,, Played in 10 regular season games with Cleveland of the International Hockey League (IHL) and posted 4-3-7… Appeared in 14 playoff games with the Lumberjacks and totaled 4-2-6… 1995-96: Played his final season in Edmonton, appearing in 23 games and recording 1-0-1 along with 33 PIM… 1994-95: Spent the majority of the season with Cape Breton (AHL), playing in 70 games and tallying 16-15-31… Racked up 184 PIM to rank second on the team… Played six games with Edmonton and scored one goal… 1993-94: Played five games with Edmonton but spent the majority of the season with Cape Breton Tallied 14-27-41 in 65 games… Had 160 PIM… Appeared in five playoff games with Cape Breton and recorded 2-0-2… 1992-93: Saw his first-ever NHL action, playing in seven games with Edmonton and notching 1-1 -2 and 19 PIM… Scored his first NHL goal and point on Oct. 10 at Vancouver against goaltender Kirk McLean… OTHER: Recorded 0-2-2 in seven games for Canada at the 2002 IIHF World Hockey Championships in Sweden… Played for Team Canada at the 1992 and 1993 World Junior Championships, winning a gold medal in Sweden in 1993. JUNIOR CAREER: Played for Swift Current (Western Hockey League) for three-plus seasons, notching career totals of 115-156-271 in 233 games,., Finest offensive season came in 1990-91 when he tallied 41-51-92 in 66 games… Had 36-46-82 along with 295 PIM in 1991-92… Exploded in the 1992-93 postseason, recording 9-17-26 in 17 games along with a league-leading 49 PIM… Racked up 647 PIM during his career… Named Swift Current’s Most Valuable Player in 1990-91.
