“He was the goalie at the top of our list heading into the draft,” says Assistant General Manager and Director of Player Personnel, Jamie Porter. “We wanted to be really aggressive getting a goaltender this year. We have watched him over the past few years and have really liked how he has progressed. He has all the qualities to be a potential game-breaker for us down the line.”
What were your thoughts on being selected 29th overall by the Broncos?
Well, I followed draft day pretty closely. I watched the first round on TV and then followed the rest on my phone at school. When I found out I was drafted I was pretty excited.
Which NHL player do you pattern your style with?
Pekka Rinne. He is a big, hybrid goalie like myself.
Looking down the road what strengths do you think you will bring to the Broncos?
On-ice: I never quit, I try to stay positive and I talk a lot.
Off-ice: I try to make sure everyone is doing what they are supposed to and I do anything I can to give my team the best chance to win.
Have you ever been to Swift Current or Saskatchewan before?
I have never been to Swift Current, but I have been to Saskatchewan.
Fun fact:
Before every game I tape my stick in the stands four rows up equal to the goal line on the side of the rink that I play twice. I have been doing that for a few years now.
