Associate Coach Darren Evjen Steps Down

SWIFT CURRENT SK – Swift Current Broncos Associate Coach Darren Evjen has stepped down from his role.

Evjen joined the Swift Current Broncos as an assistant coach prior to the 2010-2011 season.

“He worked hard to help us build the identity of our team to what it is today” commented Swift Current Broncos Head Coach and General Manager Mark Lamb.

“We will be looking to fill the vacant associate coach position after the NHL entry draft” added Lamb.

Prior to joining The Bronco organization in 2010 Evjen was an asssitant coach with the Moose Jaw Warriors in 2007. From 1998 to 2006 he was coach and GM of the SMAAAHL Saskatoon Contacts. He led the Contacts to 4 league championships, gold, silver and bronze medals at the Mac’s Midget Tournament in Calgary and a Telus Cup National Championship.

Evjen will remain with the club in a smaller capacity including a prominent role at the annual Swift Current Broncos Hockey School in August.
