Team Up for Respect is a unique initiative between the Saskatoon Blades and the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon, with the goal of tackling bullying.
Over 5,000 school kids from the Saskatoon area will come to SaskTel Centre on February 23rd to see the Blades take on the Regina Pats in a morning game, at 11:30am!
Grade four and five students from Public and Catholic schools, as well as schools from the Saskatoon Tribal Council will watch a game, and recieve souvenir workbooks featuring quizzes, games and articles on respect, bullying, health, goal-setting and more.
“Respect must be present in hockey in order for success, so the theme blends beautifully with out game,” says Blades President Steve Hogle. “We’re going to use the popularity of hockey and our players to help address a serious issue, and teach these kids how to deal with challenges.”
“The values behind Team Up For Respect stem from a philosophy we share with the Blades – delivering programs to support youth, education and community to make Saskatoon an ever greater place to live, work and play,” adds Curtis Kimpton from the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon.
Team Up for Respect will become an annual event, so grade four and five students can take part in the fun, educational day.
