A very special guest will be headlining this year’s edition of “Girls Rock Night”.
Four time Olympic medalist Hayley Wickenheiser will be the guest of honour on December 17th, 2011 as the Saskatoon Blades play host to the Kelowna Rockets.
Wickenheiser is recognized as one of the greatest female hockey players in the world and is known across the globe as a role model for people of all ages.
It all started at the age of 15, when the Shaunavon, Saskatchewan product was chosen to represent the Canadian Women’s National Team. She has since led the squad to six gold and one silver medal at the Women’s World Hockey Championships. As an Olympian, she earned a silver medal at the 1998 Winter Olympics and three Olympic gold medals in 2002, 2006 and most recently at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics. Accompanying all that hardware, Hayley was also named the tournaments’ most valuable player in the 2002 and 2006 victorious Olympic runs as well as in numerous Esso Women’s Hockey Championships.
In the summer of 2011 she received Canada’s highest civilian honour and was appointed an Officer of the Order of Canada.
Hayley is also currently a kinesiology student at the University of Calgary with the ambition of attending medical school and becoming a doctor. She lives in Calgary, Alberta and is a very proud mom to 11-year old son, Noah.
On December 17th, Hayley will be speaking to a large group of young women prior to the game, she will be taking part in the ceremonial faceoff as well as signing autographs.

Fundraising opportunities are available. The team or group that fundraises the most money will get to eat dinner with Hayley Wickenheiser. The individual who raises the most money will get the opportunity to do the ceremonial puck drop with Hayley Wickenheiser and the captain of the U of S Huskies Women’s Hockey team.
