Blades Recall Prospect Nolan Reid
The Saskatoon Blades have recalled defenceman Nolan Reid.
Reid was the Blades first selection, 41st overall, in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. The 15 year old blueliner from Deer Valley, Saskatchewan is expected to join the team for practice on Thursday before possibly drawing into the lineup this weekend when the Blades meet the Regina Pats on Friday and Kamloops Blazers on Saturday.
With Saskatoon losing defenceman David Nemecek to Team Czech Republic World Junior Selection Camp, it left them with only 6 healthy defenceman.
Reid is spending the 2013-14 season playing Midget-AAA with the Notre Dame Argos after playing Bantam-AAA with the Notre Dame Hounds last season. He’s currently the highest scoring defenceman in the Saskatchewan Midget-AAA Hockey League with 6 goals and 13 assists for 19 points in 23 games.
Reid also dressed for Team Saskatchewan at the Western Canada Under-16 Challenge Cup earlier this season in Calgary. He put up 3 assists in 4 games despite Saskatchewan being outscored 25 to 10 on their way to an 0-4 record at the event.
