The Saskatoon Blades (18-8-1-0) conclude their season-long seven-game road trip against the Lethbridge Hurricanes (14-10-2-0) at ENMAX Centre.
It’s the first meeting of the season between the two clubs who are both top five in the Eastern Conference. Each took a pair of wins against the other last year in the season-series, Saskatoon outscoring Lethbridge 10-8.
The Blades play their first game north of the border since Nov. 18th at SaskTel Centre, going 3-2-1-0 on their U.S. Division road trip. Their latest victory was a 2-0 shutout Wednesday against former Blade Conner Roulette and the Spokane Chiefs.
Who to Watch
Captain Trevor Wong reached 200 career WHL points (63G, 137A) after he dished two helpers Tuesday vs the Tri-City Americans. The Vancouver, BC product achieved the feat in 223 career games, 169 points coming in a Blue and Gold sweater, while the rest were earned during his early years with the Kelowna Rockets. The 20-year-old center is having an incredible season, leading the WHL in assists with 35 and the team in points with 41.
The Blades added a huge impact player to their roster in a blockbuster trade last week. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Fraser Minten was brought over to the Bridge City from the Kamloops Blazers. Minten’s scored in his Blue and Gold debut Saturday vs the Portland Winterhawks. The Vancouver, BC product has been one of the WHL’s premier scorers throughout his 154-game career. Minten’s produced 153 points (59G, 94A) during that stretch, and is a +50.
Blades import defenceman Samuel Barcik scored his first WHL goal vs the Chiefs. The 6-foot-2 blueliner leads all Blades rookies in points with six (1G, 5A) in 24 games.
