Blades sign 2008-born defenceman Eisnor
Saskatoon, SK – The Saskatoon Blades announced Tuesday the signing of 2008-born defenceman Liam Eisnor to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement.
The Toronto, ON native was selected by the Blades in the fourth-round (85th overall) during the 2023 WHL Prospect Draft in early May.
“Being based in Edmonton, I was lucky to see Liam a lot over the last couple of years and really like the overall package,” said Blades director of scouting Dan Tencer, “You won’t find a guy who’s going to outwork him or compete harder. When you combine that with a really nice level of natural skill, quality decision making, and a solid physical build, it’s exciting. He brings a ton of energy to the rink every day and is one of the more vocal guys you’ll come across at this age and we think he’s got a quality future ahead of him in the WHL.”
The towering 6-foot blueliner netted 29 points (16G, 13A) in 32 games this season with CAC Canadians U15 AAA of the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL), adding 81 penalty minutes on the side. Showcasing size at 15-years-old, Eisnor also displayed offensive talent in five postseason games collecting four points (1G, 3A). The left-handed shot notched two more goals and an assist in five games at the 2023 Alberta Cup for Team Alberta Grey.
The Blades are excited to welcome the Eisnor family to the organization and community of Saskatoon, and look forward to working with Liam on achieving his goals under Brennan Sonne’s coaching staff.
