Blades prospect John wins gold at 2024 WHL Cup, Lewko and Kuntz claim silver
Red Deer, AB – Saskatoon Blades prospect Jaggar John helped Team Alberta defeat Team Manitoba 8-1 in Sunday’s 2024 WHL Cup gold medal game in Red Deer, AB. Fellow Blades prospects Cohen Lewko and Spencer Kuntz walked away with silver.
John recorded two goals and an assist in Sunday’s gold medal game, leading Team Alberta to their first WHL Cup victory since 2016. The Fort McMurray, AB native finished the tournament three goals and four assists in five games, tied for second most on Team Alberta. John was drafted in the third round (61st overall) by the Blades during the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft in May.
Lewko finished the tournament with one goal and one assists in five games for Team Manitoba, while 2009-born defenceman Kuntz tallied four penalty penalty minutes in the same span. Lewko was drafted in the fourth round (77th overall) of the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft while Kuntz was selected two rounds later at 133rd overall.
