Tri-City Herald: Coyotes send Ams’ Shinnimin to AHL affiliate

PHOENIX, Ariz. — Tri-City Americans forward Brendan Shinnimin, who was invited to the Phoenix Coyotes rookie camp, and held over for the main camp, was assigned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL on Thursday.

Shinnimin, the Americans’ leading scorer last season, was one of 18 Coyotes players sent to the Pirates.

“It’s been awesome,” said Shinnimin, who will leave Phoenix today for Portland, Maine. “I went to the rookie camp with the mentality to making main camp. I guess the GM and coaches were impressed. I got the invite to main camp. I adapted really quick and did well there, too.”
