KENNEWICK, Wash. — When life hands you lemons, make lemonade.
The Tri-City Americans squeezed three power-play goals out of two major penalties by Everett to hand the Silvertips a 3-1 loss Saturday before a crowd of 3,915 at Toyota Center and take a 2-0 lead in their Western Conference playoff series.
“We are happy,” Tri-City coach Jim Hiller said. “Every game we win in this crazy thing called the playoffs, we are happy and excited.”
The best-of-7 series continues with Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday at Comcast Arena in Everett.
The Silvertips came out hard, with a much-improved effort from Game 1. But their enthusiasm got them in a bit of hot water.
