Tri-City Herald: Ams’ Shinnimin named WHL’s top player

Brendan Shinnimin made a haul at the Western Hockey League awards ceremony Wednesday in Calgary, Alberta.
The Tri-City Americans forward picked up the Bob Clarke Trophy he won as the league’s leading scorer, then added the Four Broncos Memorial Trophy as the WHL Player of the Year.
“It has been an exciting day,” said Shinnimin, who was joined by his parents, John and Maureen. “I got to meet Bob Clarke and talk with him a bit. It was cool to win those two awards and experience the awards ceremony.”
Shinnimin is just the second Tri-City player to win the Four Broncos award, joining now-Americans owner Stu Barnes, who won in 1988-89. He also is the first Western Conference player to win since Prince George’s Dan Hamhuis (2001-02).
