Recap: Ams fall 4-2 in Spokane
The Americans fell on the road in a 4-2 loss to the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday.
Deagan McMillan opened scoring 3:44 into the game off a faceoff at the right circle with a shot over the left shoulder of Chiefs goaltender Cooper Michaluk. The Ams are 17-10 and when scoring first this season.
Michael Cicek tied the game for the Chiefs midway through the period and the score held at 1-1 into the intermission. Spokane led shots over Tri-City 11-5 through the first 20 minutes.
With Marc Lajoie in the box for an interference minor, Grady Lane gave Spokane their first lead of the night with a power play goal 4:12 into the middle frame. Jalen Luypen kept Tri-City in the game as he followed four minutes later with a rocket from the left circle, scoring bar down over the glove of Michaluk. Tri-City outshot the Chiefs 10-4 in the second frame.
The third period started tied at 2-2 but Raegan Wiles netted a go-ahead goal for the Chiefs 55 seconds into the final frame. Spokane held their one-goal lead for the most of the period and secured the victory with an insurance goal from Cade Hayes with a minute remaining.
Tomas Suchanek played the full game in net for the Americans, turning aside 18 of 22 shots faced.
