Parker Wotherspoon Selected by New York Islanders at NHL Draft
KENNEWICK, WA – The Tri-City Americans are proud to announce that 17-year-old defenseman Parker Wotherspoon was selected by the New York Islanders in the fourth round, 112th overall of the 2015 NHL Draft at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, Fla.
“I’m really excited to be a part of such a great organization,” Wotherspoon said. “Its been on of the best days of my life that I’ll never forget. Can’t wait to get to camp and be in Brooklyn for the first time and get to know it.”
Wotherspoon is the 59th player, 51st skater and 26th defenseman drafted in franchise history. This is the first time the Americans have had multiple players selected at the NHL Draft since 2010 when both Brooks Macek and Patrick Holland were selected.
Tri-City had two defenseman drafted for the first time since 2004 when Logan Stephenson and Clayton Stoner were picked.

The Surrey, B.C. native had a career-high nine goals, 33 assists and 93 penalty minutes while playing in all 72 games in his second season in an Americans uniform. He was the leading scorer among defenseman and sixth overall in team scoring.
