Michael Rasmussen Named Captain at 30th Anniversary Logo Reveal
KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager, Bob Tory, announced today that the team has selected Michael Rasmussen as Team Captain for the 2017-18 season. Rasmussen becomes the 29th captain in Americans history.
“Michael embodies everything we could be looking for in a captain,” said Tory. “He brings grit, leadership, poise, a humble yet competitive disposition and a burning desire to win.”
Michael’s 2016-17 season ended after a wrist injury was discovered while he was rehabbing from a minor lower body injury. Prior to going out, Michael was leading the team in Goals, Power Play Goals, and Points as well as leading the WHL for some time in Goals and Power Play Goals.
Rasmussen said, “It is an honor to be named captain of the Tri-City Americans. I am thankful to play for a great organization with incredible teammates and coaches and could not do this without their support. I’m excited to get going in September”
The Americans also released the 30th Anniversary Logo today which will be used throughout the 2017-18 season.
The logo was created by Drew Nance of Atomic Embroidery and Screen Printing. Drew has been an artist at Atomic for over 3 years. He attended college at Perry Technical Institute in Yakima and has created various other artwork for the Americans including the Breast Cancer Awareness Jerseys and Military Night Jersey. Drew works alongside Brent Walden (Art Director) who created the First Place Award Winning Gold Medal Goalie shirt featured in Impressions Magazine. Atomic Embroidery and Screen Printing has been creating artwork with the Americans for 15 years and looks forward to continuing the partnership.
