Road teams so far have dominated the second round of the Western Hockey League playoffs.
The Tri-City Americans were just the latest to ride that wave Saturday night, jumping on the Spokane Chiefs in the first 14 minutes and hanging on for a 3-1 victory in the opening game of their Western Conference semifinal series at Spokane Arena.
The Americans made it 6-0 for road teams in Round 2 of the playoffs by continuing their winning formula from their first-round sweep of Vancouver — using their speed to create chances on offense and watching Drew Owsley do his thing in net.
