Examiner.com: Ams drop Game 2 in Spokane

One of the Tri-City Americans’ most maddening traits — inconsistency — reared its ugly head Sunday night in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinal series against the Spokane Chiefs.
The Americans followed up their Game 1 victory the night before with a lethargic performance at Spokane Arena, falling 6-3 to suffer their first loss of the postseason in seeing their eight-game win streak come to an end.
Mitch Holmberg, scratched from the opener, scored a pair of first-period goals for the Chiefs, who then scored three times in the second to build a 5-1 lead and chase goalie Drew Owsley.
“It’s certainly frustrating,” said Ams associate coach Scott Beattie. “Spokane took their game to another level tonight. They came out hungry and determined, and we didn’t match that by any means.”
