Draft Profile: Michael Rasmussen #5
With the NHL Draft right around the corner, we wanted to take some time and profile each American that was named on the final rankings put out by NHL Central Scouting for North American skaters.
Michael Rasmussen is the real deal. The big center who not only knows how to use his size, also has a nose for the net. He scored 55 points in the 50 games he played before going out with a season ending injury at the start of February. At the start of the season, the big man was leading the league in many scoring categories and stayed within the top 10 in the PPG category to finish out the season with those ahead of him playing in up to 22 more games. Rasmussen is a near lock to go in the first round of the Draft and will be on hand in Chicago to watch his next chapter unfold.

How did you feel about your play this last season?
Overall last season was a good year for us. For myself personally, it was great to have such talented linemates in Jordan Topping and Tyler Sandhu.
What are your goals for this next season, for you personally, and for the team overall?
My goals for next season are to help lead our team and contribute to the success and culture of our team. As a team our goal is to capture the US Division title and a playoff run with the end goal of being in the Memorial Cup in Regina.
What are you doing this off season to not only get ready for August (our camp and possibly NHL camp), but also what are you doing to stay focused on your goals?
This off season for myself will consist of training both on and off the ice to improve my game, along with spending time with my family and friends! Thinking about next year and looking forward to it helps me stay focused on my goals.
Every kid who grew up playing hockey dreamed of hearing their name called at the Draft. What are you feeling now that the dream is so close to possibly coming true?
Thinking about the draft makes me very excited, I feel fortunate to have that event coming up. It’s nice to have teammates going through the same process as well.
What are you going to be doing on draft day? (at your house with family, in Chicago, not watching the draft)
I will attend the draft in Chicago with my Family.
