Lukas Dragicevic signs with Seattle Kraken
Kennewick, WA – The Seattle Kraken announced today they have signed Tri-City Americans defenseman Lukas Dragicevic to a three-year, entry-level contract. He was drafted by the Kraken in the second round, 57th overall, in the 2023 NHL Draft.
Dragicevic, from Richmond, B.C., was selected fourth overall by the Americans in the 2020 WHL Prospects Draft. In his first full season with the Americans in 2021-22 Dragicevic recorded 32 points (6-26-32) in 62 games. He also represented Canada on the international stage by playing for Team Canada at the World Under-18 Championship as an underaged player, scoring a goal and two assists in four games.
In his NHL draft year, Dragicevic had a sensational season by leading the Americans in scoring with 75 points (15-60-75) while playing in all 68 games. He was the lone defenseman in the Canadian Hockey League to lead his team in scoring. That year also saw him set an Americans franchise record with a 27-game point streak with 37 points (7-30-37). He was named a U.S. Division First Team All-Star.
He once again played for Team Canada at the World Under-18 Championship in 2023, posting four points (2-2-4) in seven games to help Canada win a bronze medal at the event.
Named an alternate captain for the 2023-24 season, Dragicevic scored 50 points (14-36-50) from the Americans blue line. His 157 career points in an Americans jersey places him fourth all-time in franchise history amongst defensemen, 25 points behind Parker Wotherspoon who holds the top spot with 182.
Dragicevic is the second Americans player to sign an NHL contract this season, joining Parker Bell who was signed by the Calgary Flames on September 21.
