Americans acquire Brandon Whynott from Calgary
KENNEWICK, WA –Tri-City Americans general manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 2004-born forward Brandon Whynott from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for fifth-round pick in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft.
Whynott, from Langley, B.C., was drafted by the Hitmen in the second round, 35th overall, in the 2019 WHL Prospects Draft. The 6-foot-1 Whynott has been with the Hitmen since the beginning of the shortened 2020-21 season, appearing in 141 games with Calgary and recording 37 points (12-35-37).
“Brandon is a big, hard-working forward who skates very well,” stated Tory. “He will add depth to our forward lines.”
With the Americans, Whynott will be reunited with a former teammate of his as he and Alex Serraglio spent the 2019-20 season together with Yale Hockey Academy’s U18 team.
Americans training camp begins toward the end of August, with the first pre-season game taking place in Everett on September 8.
