Top Prospects lineup change
SASKATOON — Brandon Segal of the Calgary Hitmen of the Western Hockey League will take part in this week&rsqou;s 2002 CHL Home Hardware Top Prospects Game, to be played at Saskatoon Place.
Segal is a replacement for injured forward Tim Brent of the Toronto St. Michael&rsqou;s Majors, who suffered a separated shoulder in his team&rsqou;s 4-0 win over the Erie Otters Sunday afternoon.
Segal is a 6&rsqou;1 1/2, 205 pound right winger who is second in Calgary team scoring. He has 31 goals and 31 assists for 62 points in just 51 games this season.
The game features 40 of the top CHL prospects for this June&rsqou;s 2002 NHL Entry Draft as selected by the NHL&rsqou;s Central Scouting Department. This year&rsqou;s celebrity coaches are former WHL and NHL stars Dave “Tiger” Williams and Kelly Hrudey.
The coaches announced their captains this afternoon. The number one ranked North American prospect, defenceman Jay Bouwmeester of the Medicine Hat Tigers of the WHL, will captain Team Tiger Williams.
Forward Rick Nash of the London Knights of the Ontario Hockey League, the number two ranked North American player on the list, will captain Team Kelly Hrudey. Both Bouwmeester and Nash were members of Canada&rsqou;s silver medal winning team at the 2002 World Junior Hockey championships.
The 2002 Home Hardware Top Prospects Game takes place Thursday at 7 p.m. (local time) and 8 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast live nationally on Rogers Sportsnet.
