Stone named CHL Player of the Week
Toronto – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Ryan Stone is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending Sunday February 20 after scoring six goals and 12 points to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a perfect 4-0-0-0 record last week.
Stone, a 19-year-old centre from Calgary, Alberta, scored a hat trick and added an assist in a 7-4 win over the Saskatoon Blades on February 15. He added a goal in a 4-0 win over the Prince Albert Raiders on February 16, had a goal and three assists in a 6-1 win over the Raiders on February 19 and finished the week with a goal and two assists in a 7-3 win over the Moose Jaw Warriors on February 20.
Stone and Dale Mahovsky of the Kootenay Ice were co-players of the week in the Western Hockey League after scoring six goals and 12 points each. Patrick O’Sullivan of the Mississauga IceDogs was the OHL player of the week after scoring five goals and 10 points in four games. Brent Aubin of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies was the QMJHL’s offensive player of the week after scoring four goals and seven points in four games and Quebec Remparts’ rookie Maxime Joyal was the QMJHL’s defensive player of the week after posting a 4-0-0 record, along with a 2.00 goals against average and .923 save percentage.
