Sportsnet Begins Road to 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup
TORONTO (March 19, 2013) Sportsnet’s road to the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup begins where last year’s road ended. The first round of the Canadian Hockey League playoffs springs into action on Sportsnet this Friday when the defending Memorial Cup champion Halifax Mooseheads host the Charlottetown Islanders in the opening game of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League series. Coverage gets underway on Friday, March 21 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, and Pacific.
Sportsnet’s first Friday Night Hockey playoff broadcast of the season will feature play-by-play announcer Rob Faulds alongside analyst Greg Millen. Troy Smith, head coach of the OHL’s Kitchener Rangers, will provide additional insight into the game, joining host Jeff Marek in-studio for pre-game, post-game and intermission analysis.
Throughout the regular season and playoffs, Sportsnet brings fans the biggest and best coverage of the CHL, featuring premiere Friday Night Hockey matchups from the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Ontario Hockey League, and the Western Hockey League. Sportsnet is also the exclusive Canadian broadcaster of the 2014 MasterCard Memorial Cup, May 16-25 in London, ON. More playoff broadcasts will be announced in the coming weeks.

In February 2014, Sportsnet announced a 12-year partnership extension with the Canadian Hockey League through the 2025-26 CHL season, continuing its tradition as the exclusive broadcaster of the CHL and MasterCard Memorial Cup in Canada.
