Sean Couturier Named Team QMJHL Captain for SUBWAY® Super Series
Saint John, NB – The Canadian Hockey League in association with the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today announced the players that will serve as Captains and Assistants for Team QMJHL in the 2010 SUBWAY® Super Series beginning tonight in Saint John, NB, with game two to be played in Drummondville, QC, on Wednesday November 10, 2010.
Sean Couturier of the Drummondville Voltigeurs will serve as Team QMJHL Captain while defencemen Nicolas Deslauriers of the Gatineau Olympiques, and Brandon Gormley of the Moncton Wildcats will serve as Assistants for both games.
Couturier, a 17-year-old from Bathurst, NB, is a top rated prospect eligible for the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. The reigning QMJHL Top Scorer of the Year is currently tied for third overall in QMJHL scoring with 33 points in 23 games. He is competing with Team QMJHL for the second straight season.
Deslauriers, a 19-year-old from Saint-Anicet, Quebec, is also competing in the series for the second straight season and is a Los Angeles Kings prospect selected in the third round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The 2010 event marks the third straight for Gormley, an 18-year-old from Murray River, PEI, who was the first QMJHL player selected in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, 13th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes.
