Rebels’ Patrik Bartosak named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week
Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Los Angeles Kings prospect Patrik Bartosak of the Red Deer Rebels is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending January 26 after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with two shutout victories along with a goals-against-average of 0.67 and save percentage of .984.
Bartosak backstopped the Rebels to three straight road victories allowing just two goals on 123 shots claiming first star honours in all three contests. Last Wednesday night he stopped all 38 shots he faced in a 5-0 shutout win over the Prince Albert Raiders, then made 42 saves in a 3-2 win over the Saskatoon Blades on Friday night. His finished the week with a 41-save performance on Saturday to earn his fifth shutout of the season and 11th of his WHL career blanking the Regina Pats 4-0.
Bartosak, a 20-year-old from Koprivnice, Czech Republic, is playing in his third WHL season. Selected by the Kings in the fifth round of the 2013 NHL Draft, Bartosak was the 2012-13 CHL Goaltender of the Year and currently holds a 24-17-0-2 record with a goals-against-average of 2.75 and save percentage of .925 but leads the WHL with 1409 saves this season.
Also considered for the award this week was Philippe Cadorette of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar who picked up three wins including a shutout victory posting a goals-against-average of 0.98 and save percentage of .951, while London Knights’ netminder Jake Patterson earned two wins in two starts posting a goals-against-average of 1.00 with a save percentage of .968.
