Phoenix’s Evan Fitzpatrick named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that rookie Evan Fitzpatrick of the Sherbrooke Phoenix is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 1 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .966.
Fitzpatrick made 57 saves last week in a pair of victories for the Phoenix who have now won five games in a row and hold fifth place in the QMJHL overall standings with 62 points. He earned first star honours last Wednesday night with a 23-save performance in a 5-1 win over the Drummondville Voltigeurs, and was named second star on Saturday with 34 saves in a 2-1 win over the Gatineau Olympiques.
Fitzpatrick, who turned 17-years-old in January, hails from St. John’s, NF. Selected fourth overall by the Phoenix in the 2014 QMJHL Entry Draft, Fitzpatrick currently holds a 10-5-0-2 record with one shutout victory so far this season along with a goals-against-average of 3.10 and save percentage of .894.
Also considered for the award this week was Coleman Vollrath of the Victoria Royals who went 2-0-0-0 with one shutout posting a goals-against-average of 0.96 and save percentage of .962, while Carolina Hurricanes prospect Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers made 102 saves in three games posting a 1-1-0-1 record with a shutout victory along with a goals-against-average of 1.62 and save percentage of .953.
