Spezza, who was also selected as the Ontario Hockey League’s Player of therWeek for the fourth time this season, takes the CHL honours for the weekrending March 10 after scoring five goals and adding five assists in threerleague games this past week.rr
Eight of Spezza’s points came in one game, a 9-6 Belleville win over therToronto St. Michael’s Majors Saturday night in Belleville, as he once againrtied the team record for points in a game. Spezza also had eight points inrone game on Feb. 9.rr
Spezza’s performance edged out the other league nominees for the CHL Playerrof the Week Award. Forward Joffrey Lupul of the Medicine Hat Tigers was therHusky WHL Player of the Week while the Quebec Major Junior Hockey LeaguerPlayers of the Week were forward Jerome Bergeron of the Montreal Rocketr(Offensive) and goalie Eric Lafrance of the Hull Olympiques (Defensive).rr

Lupul started his big week by scoring four goals and adding two assists forrsix points in a 7-4 win over the visiting Lethbridge Hurricanes on March 5.rThen on March 9, Lupul had one goal and two assists in a 7-6 overtime lossrat the hands of the visiting Swift Current Broncos.rr
Lupul is an 18-year-old from Edmonton, Alberta. He is currently the only WHLrplayer to have hit the 50-goal plateau and he is just one point behind WHLrscoring leader Nathan Barrett of the Lethbridge Hurricanes. He is eligiblerfor the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.rr

Spezza, one of the hottest scorers in the OHL, picked up five goals and fiverassists for 10 points in just three games this past week, while also postingrhis second eight-point game of the season in one of the games.rr
Spezza scored one goal in a 6-3 win over the Mississauga IceDogs March 7 andradded on assist in his team’s 6-3 loss to Barrie on March 10. But onrSaturday, March 9, he was awesome in Belleville’s 9-6 win over the TorontorSt. Michael’s Majors in Belleville.rr
In that game, Spezza had four goals and four assists for eight points, thersecond time this season he’s had an eight-point game. The performancerequaled the team record set by Dan Quinn in 1983, Jason Lafreniere in 1985,rBrad Gratton in 1987 and Spezza on February 9, just over a month ago.rr
Spezza, an 18-year-old native of Etobicoke, improved his season totals to 39rgoals and 60 assists for 99 points in just 50 games. He has been named OHLrPlayer of the Week four times this season and CHL Player of the Week twice.rr
Since being acquired by the Bulls from the Windsor Spitfires in January,rSpezza has 54 points in just 23 games. He was the first overall pick of therMississauga IceDogs in the 1999 OHL Priority Selection and the secondroverall pick of the Ottawa Senators in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.rr

Bouchard had three goals and five assists in just three games to take therOffensive Player of the Week Award, while Lafrance recorded back-to-backrshutouts in two games this week for the Olympiques to take the DefensiverPlayer of the Week honours.rr
Bouchard’s big week started March 7 when he scored a short-handed goal inrhis team’s 2-1 win over the Quebec Remparts. The next night, he picked uprtwo assists in a 5-4 loss to the Drummondville Voltigeurs in Drummondville.rr
He saved his best performance for March 10, however, when he had two goalsrand three assists, figuring in on all five of his team’s goals, in a 5-4 winrover Chicoutimi before 8,000 fans at the Molson Centre.rr
Lafrance has been one of the hottest goalies in the QMJHL and he wasrespecially brilliant this past week. He started on March 8 by making 22rsaves to pick up the shutout in a 3-0 win over the Quebec Remparts.rr
On March 10, he made 21 saves as the Olympiques defeated Drummondville 3-0,rgiving him two shutouts for the week while stopping all 43 shots he faced.rr
Lafrance will take his shutout streak of 127 minutes and 31 seconds intorTuesday night’s game with the Val-d’Or Foreurs.rr
