Smith scores a pair as Rangers edge Lakers
The North York Rangers continue rolling as they stayed perfect, improving their record to 3-0 after a 4-1 win over the Huron-Perth Lakers.
Once again North York showed their ability to come from behind. After a first period goal from Lakers forward Lyndon Cabral (2), the Rangers would follow up with three unanswered with one from Jackson Kimelman (2) and a pair from top prospect Brady Smith (5, 6). Underage talent Camryn Warren also had an impressive game offensively for North York, he put together a three point performance with an assist on all three of the Rangers’ goals.
Smith, who also earned Zephyr Player of the Game for North York, is a highly skilled forward who possesses an incredible shot. He was quick to credit his teammates when asked about his offensive performance in the game, “Playing with the linemates that I do, they are always setting me up for great chances and giving me the opportunity to score, I love playing with the guys I play with, it’s awesome,” said Smith.
Goaltender Edmund Docherty received the Zephyr Player of the Game award for Huron-Perth as he made some big saves in the game stopping 26 of 29 shots in the contest.
