All around effort leads NOHA past Titans
Team NOHA put together a whole team effort as they beat the Ottawa Valley Titans 5-3 to improve to 2-1.
Braydon Lindsay (2) scored his second of the tournament as Ottawa Valley took a one goal lead near the end of the first. NOHA would find the equalizer off of a goal from defenceman Brady Real (1) with under a minute to go in the first.
NOHA would come out with some extra energy in the middle frame as Lex Lamontagne (3) ripped a shot bar-down to give NOHA the lead, followed by a Benjamin Brunton (2) goal to give NOHA the two goal edge. The Titans’ Jordan Perrier (2) would bring Ottawa Valley within one as the period neared its end, however once again NOHA would find an extra gear with Maverick Hill (2) and Liam Watson (1) scoring to extend the lead. Keegan Shirley (1) scored the Titans’ third goal on the power play in the final second of the game.
While they didn’t start out the way they wanted, NOHA’s Maverick Hill spoke about his team’s ability to pivot and turn the game around quickly, “We didn’t start off the greatest, but I think we were able to come out hard at the end of the first and came out with a lot more energy in the second and it showed.”
“We definitely got to come out hard, we know Barrie’s a really good team, but I think if we’re able to buy in we got a good chance,” said Hill as he discussed his team’s upcoming game against Barrie which could potentially have a big impact in the Lindros Division standings.
Carter Stevens (3G, 4A) and Braydon Lindsay (2G, 5A) finished with a team high seven points as the Ottawa Valley Titans wrapped up their 2024 OHL Cup with a record of 1-3.
