Sept. 24/17 – NB (6) – SBY (5)
The North Bay Battalion scored four times inside the final eight minutes of the third period to overcome a 5-2 deficit and defeat the Sudbury Wolves 6-5 on the road. Offseason acquisition Luke Burghardt (3, 4, 5) completed a hat-trick with just four seconds to spare as the Troops skated off with a big comeback victory over their northern rival. Cam Dineen (1), Brady Lyle (1) and Daniil Vertiy (1) also scored for North Bay while Mat Woroniuk came in for the final 10 minutes of the game to get the win. The Battalion outshot the Wolves 43-26 on the afternoon, pressing hard in the third to outdo them 19-6. Sudbury’s Michael Pezzetta (1, 2) scored twice while Nolan Hutcheson (1), Shane Bulitka (1) and David Levin (1) had others. Burghardt wraps up the weekend in a four-way tie for most points in the OHL with six while his five goals lead the league. The two clubs meet again in North Bay on Wednesday.
